The transliteration of English taffeta contains the meaning of plain fabric. Also known as taff silk, it is a kind of ripe woven high-grade silk fabric woven with plain weave tissue. The warp yarn adopts compound twisted ripe yarn, and the weft yarn adopts parallel single twisted ripe yarn, with plain weave structure as the ground, the fabric density is large, and it is the tightest variety of silk fabric.

Flower taffeta is the jacquard fabric in taffeta, the ground pattern is plain weave, and the pattern is eight satin tissues. Due to the tight density of the warp, the pattern is prominent and bright, the texture is firm, light and structured, the color is bright, and the luster is soft, but it is not suitable for folding and heavy pressure. The pattern is generally medium-sized, large, and the flowers are smooth and generous. It is suitable for clothing, umbrella and duck down duvet covers.

Taffeta is characterized by fine and smooth silk surface, flat and beautiful, good luster, tight fabric, hard feeling, but easy to produce permanent creases after wrinkling. Therefore, it is not suitable for folding and heavy pressure, and roll packaging is commonly used.

Fancy varieties include plain, shimmer, stripe and jacquard.
